Land Acknowledgment

This place where we meet, sits within the ancestral and contemporary territory of the O’odham Jeweḍ (the O’odham ancestral lands), the Sobaipuri, the Tohono O’odham, and the Hohokam peoples. They have cared for these lands and waters since time immemorial, cultivating relationships with the desert, the rivers, and all that lives here. We acknowledge the deep history and experiences of the Indigenous peoples who have lived on these lands for millennia and commit to protecting these desert lands with the conservation of native plants, being good stewards of water resources, and supporting the our indigenous communities.

Inspirations for the Eureka Learning Community Co-op

Verdi EcoSchool in Melbourne, FL is part of the inspiration for the Eureka Learning Community. Verdi is an amazing private school and homeschool enrichment program. Verdi is a place-based, urban farm school. Nasima’s child attended Verdi in Melbourne, FL. Nasima was part of Verdi’s academic committee which helped determine curriculum and interview personnel. Nasima learned a lot about community building and outdoor education through her time at Verdi. Nasima honors all they taught her.

Nasima’s other child also attended the Nature’s Schoolhouse Network in Melbourne, FL. My child had so much fun here and I’m grateful for all I learned from the educators.

Nasima also gives thanks to all the families who participated in her pre-school co-op in FL from 2018-2020. They were all dear friends whom we had so much fun.
